A new policy on software ownership and management has been proposed. The policy was requested by the Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer to enable better management of software developed on campus. Under the policy developers of software will generally have ownership rights. The exceptions are for code developed under an agreement (including a sponsored arrangement), works developed for administrative purposes and works for which the University has provided substantial support.
