The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a federally mandated committee responsible for review of all research involving human participants for compliance with the federal regulations.
The IRB must review any research involving human subjects prior to data collection, including proposals to gather data from subjects for theses, dissertations, and other student projects to assure compliance with the appropriate federal and ISU regulations and guidelines.
Principal Investigators (PIs) are responsible for assuring compliance with all requirements regarding the use of human subjects in research.
